Anything I find amusing/interesting/important. I'm 22, female, libertarian, asexual, and a college graduate. This is mostly funny and/or fandom stuff, but occasionally I'll talk about something serious. Feel free to say hi!

And the Waltz Goes On - Anthony Hopkins
Sir Anthony Hopkins Hears The Waltz He Wrote 50 Years Ago For The First Time
Academy Award-winning actor Sir Anthony Hopkins was a musician before he got into acting. 50 years ago he wrote a waltz but was too afraid to ever hear it play. Dutch violinist André Rieu performs it for the very first time. Watch Hopkins’ reaction.
That was beautiful
Saw this live when they came to Vancouver. Beautiful night and incredible music.

That was beautiful
I cried a few tears and felt better about humanity’s endeavors.
That as absolutely spectacular and ornate. I as well was brought to tears
Screw the article links for the moment: this is too extraordinary not to reblog right now.
Hopkins’s reactions as it plays through would have been worth the entire price of admission. And whoever did the orchestration should be congratulated for not going for anything small. (But then Rieu’s shindigs always lean toward the spectacular anyway: “small” would be out of place.)
…Whew.

My idea of fear is something you cannot comprehend. Fear is something that happens to you. It pulls you out of your safe zone, it pulls you out of your comfort and it makes you feel powerless in your situation. It’s something that builds and it keeps on feeding into one core aspect of making you completely vulnerable. You can’t control it whenever it happens. You’re powerless. You’re completely alone. You don’t have any means of getting back to safety. You have nothing. Fear is something that makes you irrational, something that puts you in a state of doing things you would not normally do. Like cry out for your mother. Sprinting towards anywhere, you don’t know where, but you’re just running as fast as you can; trying to get away, but you know deep down you won’t be able to. That’s my definition of fear. You’re just powerless.

This is beautifully put

Black Widow SNL Parody Trailer
Supergirl Tv Series
THIS IS A GODDAMN MESS
The difference is that this is who Supergirl IS. She was originally a teenage superhero, created to be a young female counterpart to Superman.
She was adopted, she went to high school, she hopped around jobs like a lot of young people do (including, yes, journalism like in the show and being a soap opera actor).
She dated a lot, and was basically a normal human being except for the saving people thing.
This IS Supergirl.
This is not Black Widow. Black Widow’s story is dark and frightening and intense. It’s about a tortured little girl turned into an assassin that did horrible things to stay alive. Her story is about redemption and breaking away from her past and dealing with monsters and fighting and wiping the red out.
This story line, done for Black Widow, would be a fucking joke. But Black Widow isn’t Supergirl.
Let Supergirl be the superhero she is, and let Black Widow be the superhero she is. They don’t have to be the same. In fact, they shouldn’t be, because women deserve diversity too.

Toppling through the stars
Torrents howl
Photons bow
And I’m hopeless
Staring wistful above
The graceless fall
For help they call
All around me
And I heard you
And ignored you
And now I wonder….
If I had asked
For your help then
Could all this be
Rewound again
The clock’s hands,
They are prison bars
Just let me
Take it back
Tonight
I’ve never felt like this
This frailness
Your name I screamed
But you couldn’t
Hear me
‘Cause you’re needed by my side
I know I’ve lied
But everything, it was all
For you
And I heard you
But ignored you
And now I wonder….
If I can ask
For your help now
Can all this be
Turned back around
But the clock’s hands,
They are prison bars
And they won’t
Take me back
Tonight
And I, I
Can’t bear my uselessness
I, I
Can’t even keep you safe
I, I
Promise to repossess
My, my
Grace….
Tearing through the stars
Torrents howl
Photons bow
And I’m hopeful
Staring wistful above
With grace I fly
A battle cry
All around me
But I heard you
And I ignored you
No time to wonder….
If I ask
For your help here
Can I make your fear
Disappear?
And the clock’s hands,
They are prison bars
So I can
Take it back
If I had asked
For your help then
Could all this be
Rewound again
The clock’s hands,
They are prison bars
Let me
Take it back
Take it all back
Tonight

Plead the Fifth (Dean’s Lullaby)
A Hallelujah Parody for Supernatural
Lyrics and album art by Steph
Vocals by Kira
—————
Well I heard your prayers from far below
But down in hell, how could you know
I listened, every word you said, I heard you
But after this
I’ll plead the fifth
Before my fall, after your lift
I swore I heard you say the Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
I know you’re strong, but I can’t explain
I’ve seen you die over again
Only you would still want to pray to me
She tied me up where angels fall
She made me deaf to all your calls
And from my lips she drew our Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Righteous man, that’s what they said
But still awake, you’d lie in bed
And listen to the shadows, knife clutched tightly
But when sleep came it could not kill
The fears that on your skin would chill
Those nights I wish I’d sang a Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
There was a time when I couldn’t say
What truly had led me astray
But now I understand what pushed me from grace
It was your breath, your eyes, your face
Your courage drove to the sticking place
And there I fell all for your Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Maybe there’s a God above
Through you he tried to teach me love
A long and winding road that lead me to you
Don’t think that I’ve abandoned hope
Still I’ll hang onto this rope
I won’t let go till I find our Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah x3
